Class Structure and Contract:
Each unit will be contain an interactive lecture that will require students to think as well as learn note taking skills or research on a topic to teach the other students in the class, quizzes to practice material, activities or labs to practice lecture concepts and develop critical thinking skills with choices to demonstrate understanding, a writing aspect that includes a self reflection on learning, and unit test. Students will be required to keep a blog where they will post their labs (blabs) and review information. Students who get lower than a C on each test will be required to do reflective test corrections and/or retake the test. Test corrections for those students who have higher than a C will be optional, but will need to have each section completed in its entirety. The reflective test correction sheet asks students to state what was the wrong answer, the correct answer, why the new answer is correct, and provide proper documentation and MLA citations as to where the new answer was found (this does not include someone elses test). This plan is subject to change with sufficient notice with time to adapt in order to best address the needs of the students in my classes. My goal is to provide a structured environment that fosters learning, critical thinking, and problem solving.
