My goal for this year is to encourage my students natural curiosity of the world around us while using inquiry and project based learning. Students will practice what we have learned and have choice as often as possible on how to demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of the material to show mastery. This mastery of the material will be demonstrated by the application of the concepts we have learned learned through many different methods. Assessments are worth 75% of a student's grade, while concept development or practice of the material is worth 25%. Students are allowed to redo missing or incomplete concept development at any time within a semester. If a student would like to retake a quiz they must complete a reflection form, all of their concept development or assignments before and get a 75% or higher on a practice assessment before retaking the class assessment.
I expect each student to be terrific, trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and practice good citizenship, while learning about the living world. I expect that students demonstrate the six pillars of character in every aspect of the learning environment in order to maximize their understanding of the material.
